Acai Bowl!

I love Acai bowls. Its only begun to become popular kinda recently. Or at least I have only heard of such when I first moved to Santa Barbara! I used to go to Backyard Bowls for my Acai fix. But now I can make em at home! And so can you!

If you don't know what Acai is, it a dark red-purple palm berry that is found in the Brazilian Amazon. The taste is very much like a berry and chocolate blend but has much more antioxidants than blueberries and pomegranates, and more calcium than dairy milk. It also contains vitamin C, E, and EFA's.
Acai has an anti-aging effect which makes your skin look anew!

Acai blend
1 package frozen acai smoothie pack
1 banana
1/4 pecans
1/3 filtered water
1/4 cup agave (optional)

Toppings
blueberries
raspberries
goji berries
hemp seeds

In a blender, throw in the Acai, banana, pecans, water and agave and blend until smooth.
Scoop acai mix into a little glass or bowl and top with the berries and hemp nuts!
Yum!

You can usually find the Acai smoothie packages in the frozen section of Whole Foods or a local Health food store!
A couple good brands are Sambazon and Planet Amazon

Vegan Cartoon!

The whole idea of our human evolution is pretty controversial. Honestly, who knows how our design is to be. Who knows what thousands of years ago, what humans did to survive.
But this video brings upon a pretty good point. Something that I havn't really put much thought into!

Its really interesting! Check this cartoon out!

Blueberry Mint Morning Smoothie!

I was inspired by Mary's Secret Garden Vegan Bistro from Ventura (its called Purple Tranquilizer there) and wanted to make it myself!

Blueberry Mint Smoothie

1 cup Blueberries
1/3 cup Hemp seeds
Mint leaves
1 Banana
1 tbsp Agave Nectar
1 cup Nutmilk

Throw Blueberries, Banana and Agave Syrup and blend til smooth, and then after throw the rest in the blender til smooth! Its soo delicious!

Blueberries are high in Antioxidants! They are a great source of vitamin C, potassium and magnesium!
Mint is really good for the digestive system in which it relaxes the smooth muscles in the stomach. It may help out with recovering your stomach ulcers !
Bananas are a great source of pectin, in which is a soluble fiber that decreases risk of heart disease and colon cancer. Bananas guard the stomach from too much acid and help in curing peptic ulcers.

Super Choco Smoothie!

Makes you feel like a kid again enjoying a glass of Chocolate Milk! But... kinda healthier!
Goji Berries are well known as the fruit of longevity and healthy being!
As a complete protein, it contains beta carotene ( a protein good for memory!), vitamin C (more than oranges!), and a rich source of iron! This berry improves immune function, strengthens the legs, advances circulation!
Banana is, of course, the greatest essential core for potassium, but also contains dietary fiber, vitamin C, and manganese!
Pour yourself a glass of this healthy 'chocolate milk' to jump start your day!

Ingredients!

1 large handful of Goji Berries
(soaked overnight in a cup of water – use the
water too!)
almond milk/nut milk
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1 tablespoon maca powder
1 tablespoon agave nectar
extra water to taste

Throw all these in a blender and drink!

Green Tea and Goji Berry Smoothie

The Goji Berry is probably the most nutritious and powerful superfood, in which has many high energy health benefits!

And Green Tea is very much known to speed up the metabolism and give energy without the caffiene! It is also full of antioxidants as well! It may guard against cancer, decrease cholesterol, and regulate blood sugar.

I was being slump so you could see me better... just an FYI....ha!

Ingredients!
¼ cup of soaked goji berries
4 tablespoons agave nectar
1 cup of green tea
½ cup of plain or vanilla coconut milk yogurt
(used Turtle Mountain So Delicious Coconut Yogurt)

Step 1. Combine soaked goji berries and 1 tablespoon of agave nectar in the blender.
Step 2. Blend on high speed for 2-3 minutes
Step 3. Add green tea, yogurt, and the rest of the agave nectar. Blend until everything is smooth. It’s important to blend the agave nectar in with the rest of the ingredients before you add the ice.
Step 4. Add some ice and blend on high until the drink is smooth.

So honestly, even though this smoothie looks like carrot juice, it has soo much flavor that gives a berry taste to.
Totally recommend trying out!

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!
Talk to you later!

Santa Monica Adventure! plus a tidbit of the weekend!

Friday I came into LA and hung out with my good friend, Alex Wong. Walked around Westwood. Then decided to hit up Santa Monica.

Check out our video adventures!

I didn't realize that I barely got a shot of the food areas. but at least you know whats here!
Plus! There were more restaurants outside. Next time, I am going to dine at the spots overlooking Santa Monica pier :)

So. As we are walking along, there was a stand publicizing Veganism! It made me happy. :D .

these were the flyers they were giving peps.

first time in H&M. And yes. I really am a size 5 in shoes.

next time when i have money. total shopping spree fo sho.

The next day was my cousin's birthday party in Studio City in which I had been busy the entire day! I helped set up for most of the day. Then later had to drive back to Hollywood to get ready and pick up my cousin's friend, and drove back to play bartender and finally meet more family for the first time! That was seriously so cool.

It really felt more like a family function than anything. My first time at any family function too! I have a very very small family in general so, meeting more people who I'm related to was kinda cool! I did feel a bit awkward because it was so different than what I was used to. It really felt nice to be regarded as another member of the family, we exchanged numbers and email addresses and they said that they would invite me to family dinners over weekends and holidays! :D

And also at the end of the night, I learned that my cousin's friend that I had driven to and from the party was also a Vegan!
How cool is that! So, I have a friend who I can dine with whenever i'm in the area again! Weee!

It seriously really is cool to meet more Vegans. Because its a rarity!
Its kinda nice to meet people who have the same beliefs as yourself, in which you have the same things in common!
One of the reasons why I got incredibly excited when i saw the Vegan Stand in Santa Monica! I know that Los Angeles is an open-minded area and will also have some Vegan communities! I just have to start showing up at some of them! Ha!

It's always a pleasure to go out of town once in awhile to spend time with family. Its one thing I'm working on is meeting more people I'm related to! And also to spend time with my favorite cousin in West Hollywood! And friends in the area! :D

.In general. I am all about adventure.
.I live for adventure. If I didn't go out of my element. I wouldn't really be living.

Once I get ahold of pictures from the party, I'll post them up!

Hope everyone had a splendid weekend! Time to hit the books !

Happy Monday,

Raw Key Lime Pie!

I found this recipe, forgot where I got it.. but I decided to try it out!

2 sets of blending

Ingredients!
-1 avocado
-1/4 cup coconut oil
-1 tbsp lime juice
-1 tbsp raw agave nectar
and blend

for the crust:
1 part cashews
1 part dates
and blend

once you have blended both of them separately, put a little bit of the blended crust ingredients in the cup first
then put in the blended avocado mix and use the rest of the crust to cup the avocado dessert.

freeze for 5 minutes

instant dessert!
yum!
me gusto mucho! <3

Avocados are such a great source of potassium! Which regulates blood pressure!
An excellent intake of potassium guards against circulatory diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, or stroke.

Cashews are another “good” fat that is a rich source of phytochemicals and antioxidants!
These chemicals protect us from cancer and heart disease

my first green smoothie

I get inspired by raw-ists. They're so healthy and creative with their foods! And I always hear about green smoothies! Though I have never had of such stuff. I've pretty much was afraid of trying em much likely. Since I had some kale and avocado, I thought of trying it out finally!

what I used was:

a bunch of kale
a little bit of seaweed snack
1/2 of an avocado
1 tbsp acai hemp protein powder
1 cup nutmilk
a few packets of stevia

I think it would have been tastier if I didn't have the seaweed. And I craved a more chocolate-y flavor. So I added a couple tbsps of carob powder and chocolate stevia.

Must experiment some more! I shall find more recipes to try out :)

Kale with Creamy Cashew Sauce!

This Cashew Cream sauce, which gives a cheesy type texture without the dairy, is great with Kale!
Kale is one of the most richest sources of calcium, as well as your fine dosage of vitamins C, A, and K! It also contains a good source of magnesium, dietary fiber and tryptophan (a type of protein to make you feel good!)
The Cashew is a delicious nut containing thiamin, calcium, and phosphorus!
Cashew nuts helps maintain healthy gums and teeth, give you energy, and promotes excellent cardiovascular health!
You can use this Cashew Cream sauce with any other salad items such as with brussel sprouts, or broccoli!

Ingredients:
One bunch of Kale
1/2 Cup Cashews ( I prefer to soak for an hour before to make it softer)
1/2 Cup Nutmilk
1 Tsp. Onion flakes/powder
1/2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast

Blend the Cashews, Nutmilk, Onion Flakes and Nutritional yeast in a blender until smooth!
Instant Salad Sauce to drizzle over your Kale!
